This was definitely a morning that will go down in the books for me. It started just like any other I had spent with the loons. I arrived 30 minutes before sunrise, carried my gear down a dirt road, set up my kayak, and hit the water. It was a calm and clear morning, and after a few minutes, fog slowly began creeping over the mountains. Before long, it had completely engulfed the pond.
At one point, all I could see was the loon parent and chick as they rested in the center of the pond. I waited patiently until the fog thinned enough to see the shoreline and it also just happened to be when the chick decided it was nap time.
