In the summer of 2024, burrowing owls quickly became my favorite species to photograph. I had wanted to capture them for years but wasn’t sure where to find them. Then, a friend shared a spot where they were often seen — and sure enough, I came across several burrows, each with its own little family and unique photo opportunities.
One of my favorites was actually right in the middle of a parking lot. The owls there were so accustomed to people that they allowed me to get surprisingly close, making it the perfect spot for intimate portraits.
